About the studio

ABailarMadrid is a cultural and recreational dance association (Asociacion Cultural y Recreativa Azcona) offering salsa and bachata classes across multiple locations in Madrid. The school operates as a collective of experienced teachers who came together to share their passion for Latin dance under the philosophy that 'dancing is fun'. Classes run Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with dedicated beginner and intermediate/advanced groups, taught primarily by lead instructor Javi. Group classes are held at partner venues including Danzare Ballet on Calle Azcona and Portalo's on Calle Marques de Ahumada, both close to Metro Diego de Leon. The school is particularly welcoming to absolute beginners, marketing itself as the best dance school for principiantes who want to make new friends through dance. Couple registration is recommended for the Wednesday beginners class. In addition to weekly group lessons, ABailarMadrid offers private VIP at-home classes from 50 EUR per hour for individuals or couples. The association also collaborates with affiliated teachers offering tango, linear salsa, sensual bachata, flamenco, sevillanas, ballet, and tai chi.

ABailarMadrid was founded by a group of long-time dance students who, after years of training together, became teachers and friends. They created the Asociacion Cultural y Recreativa Azcona to spread their love of dance under the motto 'bailar es divertido' (dancing is fun). The school has built relationships with other Madrid dance institutions and currently delivers most of its classes in collaboration with Danzare Ballet (which took over the original Azcona 44 venue) and Escuela de Baile Portalo's. The 2024-25 season is active and the school is working on adding new locations. Regular dance parties (fiestas) have been suspended for the time being, with photos of past events still available on the school's Facebook page.
