About Lions and Sun Bar and Lounge

Lions and Sun is a neighborhood bar and lounge on Woodbine Avenue in Sharon, in East Gwillimbury just north of Newmarket, that programs a different event every night of the week. Its Latin Dance nights pair a beginner lesson with social dancing in salsa, bachata, merengue, and more, giving the northern edge of the York Region its own midweek Latin social. Cover is 10 dollars and the venue offers free parking.

The format runs an introductory lesson from around 8 PM followed by social dancing, so newcomers can learn the basics and then stay to practice on the same night. With a small-town lounge atmosphere and a community-minded vibe, it suits dancers in Newmarket, Aurora, and the surrounding towns who want a closer option than downtown Toronto. Free on-site parking makes the drive easy for the suburban crowd.
