About this Festival
The New Zealand Salsa Congress is the country's biggest annual salsa and bachata event, held in Wellington over Kings Birthday weekend. The 2026 edition, its 19th year, ran 29 to 31 May at Te Whaea National Dance & Drama Centre in Newtown with two days of workshops by international and national instructors, a showcase, and three nights of parties with separate salsa and bachata rooms. The programme also includes bootcamps, masterclasses, a Jack and Jill competition, and the NZ Latin Dance Industry Awards.
