About the duo
Wilmer Najarro and Maria del Carmen Moreno, known on stage as Wilmer y Maria, are a Cuban salsa duo based in Ascoli Piceno, Italy, where they work as instructors, choreographers and international Cuban folklore artists. Both trained at Cuban dance academies in Afro-rumba, ballet, contemporary, Cuban folk dance and Spanish dance, then moved from Cuba to Italy in 2002 and went on to perform at major salsa festivals worldwide. Their repertoire spans Cuban salsa, rumba, son and timba, layered with Afro-Cuban orisha references and dramatic partner work. In August 2026 they teach workshops and perform at the first edition of Salsa Festival Czech Republic in Prague. Wilmer & Maria are touring 2 festivals on the 2026 circuit, including SALSA BACHATA TEMPTATION ASIA 2026 (SBTA), D'Cuba International Congress 2026.
