Salsa in Medellin runs three nights a week, and all three are weekly socials. Thursday is the main night, then Friday and Saturday, so you can dance on the weekend or start a little earlier. The scene here centers on one active social-dance venue, so the crowd is easy to find and regulars turn up often. Medellin leans toward Colombian-style salsa, danced fast and close to the floor. The same venue also hosts bachata, with three bachata socials in the city, so many nights mix both styles. Coming alone is normal, and people rotate partners through the night. Many socials open with a short class, which helps if you are new in town.
