Salsa Bruxelles
About the studio
Salsa Bruxelles is a long-running Latin dance school founded in 1991 and still operating in central Brussels, on the first floor of Madame Moustache at 5 Quai au Bois à Brûler, just one minute on foot from the Sainte-Catherine metro. The school specialises in salsa danced 'On 2' in the New York tipico style, while also teaching bachata, cha-cha-cha, son cubano, and merengue as social partner dances. Group classes are 90 minutes long and run Monday to Thursday evenings at 19:00 and 20:30, taught in both French and English by a team of warm, experienced instructors. The level structure runs from absolute beginner ('Débutants') through Salsa 1 to Salsa 4 (advanced), with progression based on mastery rather than automatic promotion. A trial class costs 15 EUR cash, and flexible subscription packages from 169 EUR (15 classes) up to 399 EUR (60 classes) let students attend any class at their level or below. Singles are welcome, partner rotation is the default, and the school has nurtured the Brussels salsa scene for more than three decades, training many dancers who have since become teachers themselves across Belgium, France, and Luxembourg.
Salsa Bruxelles was founded in 1991 and is operated by the non-profit association Baila Salsa asbl (BE 0453.350.680). It has been one of the longest-standing Latin dance schools in Belgium, training thousands of dancers over more than three decades, several of whom went on to become professional instructors in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. The school's senior teacher Alain has been part of the Brussels salsa scene since 1990, and the COMO CANDELA Dance Company was co-founded in Brussels by Salsa Bruxelles teachers (Alain, Justice, Fabienne, and Séverine). As of 1 September 2025, the school moved to a new venue at 5 Quai au Bois à Brûler, on the first floor of the Madame Moustache venue, with views over the Sainte-Catherine church and waterfront.
