ElStudio
About the studio
ElStudio (officially Dansende Dynamisk Verden Skole, formerly known as CphDance / Cuban Culture Club) is one of Copenhagen's largest dance schools and has been operating since the year 2000. The school was the first in Denmark to introduce salsa classes and remains a flagship venue for Cuban-style salsa, bachata, son, rueda de casino and standard Latin in the city. ElStudio runs roughly 150 weekly classes across more than a dozen venues throughout Copenhagen — including Nørrebro, Østerbro, Vesterbro, Valby, Christianshavn, Amager and Islands Brygge — covering kids, teens, youth and adults at all levels. The Latin program centers on Cuban salsa, bachata, son and rueda taught by Magnus, Anier, Gabriela and other long-time instructors, with ladies styling, solo Cuban moves and standard Latin (Vild Med Dans) rounding out the offering. Singles are welcome on all couples classes since partners rotate, and English-speaking instructors are common on adult classes. Beyond regular weekly classes, ElStudio hosts workshops, club nights (currently in collaboration with Nordhus and previously at Reffen, Kaffe Salonen and Støberiet), summer dance camps at Idrætshøjskolen Bosei, an annual salsa course in Cuba and — historically — the Copenhagen Dance Festival. The atmosphere is famously relaxed and welcoming, with monthly subscriptions starting at 240 DKK for a 60-minute weekly class.
Founded in 2000 by Alberthe Stinne Ortvad, originally under the name CphDance ved Cuban Culture Club. Stinne studied modern and Cuban dance for five years at the Cuban National Dance School (La ENA). The association was one of the first in Denmark to introduce Latin dance and music through classes, events and concerts in Copenhagen and across the country. The school has organized salsa courses in Cuba (in cooperation with La ENA) since the early 2000s, and in 2017 launched the Copenhagen Dance Festival, a weekend festival of workshops, competitions and shows with international dancers (currently on hiatus, expected to return). The school has been associated with major Copenhagen events including Bilfri Søndag, Kulturhavn, Karneval i København and Festival 48 Timer.

"I recently attended a beginner Salsa class, and unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations. The instructor was 30 minutes late due to a delayed train, which is understandable, but there was no communication to inform the students about the delay—something I found quite unprofe"
"Been going there for a year already. I’ve been taking Anna Martinsen classes and she’s an amazing teacher. Always eager to answer questions and the mood and vibe she creates for the classes are amazing ✨"
"The school can be perceived differently by each public. -For students and internationals it doesn't make sense, this is not their target group -The teachers are unaware of others' mistakes. If I kept doing something wrong, there was no space for questions -The school doesn't bala"
