About the studio

Bailamor is the oldest and most popular salsa dance school and Latin bar in Dresden, operating since 2001 in the lively Neustadt district on Alaunstrasse. The venue combines a stylish cocktail bar, club floors, and a dance school, with multiple resident DJs spinning salsa, bachata, kizomba, merengue, rumba, and Black music on weekends and Wednesdays. The school teaches structured 8-week courses in salsa, bachata, and urban kiz across beginner, improver, and intermediate levels, with separate progressions and instructor pairs for each style. As of May 2026, the Wednesday salsa courses and the legendary Bailamor Wednesday party have moved to the centrally located Hans im Club on Wallstrasse 11, while the original Alaunstrasse venue continues to operate as the Bailamor cocktail club. Bringing a partner is not required; the school maintains a WhatsApp partner-finder group and an open community vibe. A 20 euro student discount is available with a valid student ID. Bailamor is also famous for staging large-scale special events, including the annual Salsa Cruise on the MS Graefin Cosel riverboat on the Elbe with five music floors and the Stadtfest Latino Partyboot. Beginners are warmly welcomed and the friendly bilingual (German/English) atmosphere makes it a strong entry point for new dancers in eastern Germany.

Founded in 2001, Bailamor describes itself as the oldest and most beloved salsa dance school and bar in Saxony, with more than 20 years of history bringing Latin American culture, music, and dance to Dresden. The school has been running courses for roughly 18 years, has trained thousands of students, and is nationally known for its annual Salsa Cruise on the Elbe (the 2026 edition is the legendary Pirate-themed Salsa Cruise on 30 May 2026) and for its Stadtfest Dresden Latino Partyboot. In May 2026 the school relocated its Wednesday salsa courses and the Bailamor Wednesday party to the centrally located Hans im Club on Wallstrasse, while keeping the Alaunstrasse 64 location as its cocktail club and main venue.

What dancers say 4.3 on Google

"Well established (over 10 years) Latin dance place in Dresden with Shisha bar and free beginners class every Wednesday and and Friday. Try the Cuba Libre and you are in for a good night. Can get crowded at times but usually provides enough space for dance after midnight."
