About the studio
Dancer University is one of Los Angeles' most active Latin social-dance schools, teaching Salsa (On 1), Sensual Bachata, Zouk, and Argentine Tango from two studios in Westwood and West Pico. The school offers structured 12-week progressive courses for beginner, intermediate, and advanced dancers, plus daily drop-in classes that require no partner and rotate students through all roles. Drop-ins are $25, with 5- and 10-class packages, an unlimited monthly membership at $165, and a 20% student discount, making consistent training accessible. Beyond classes, Dancer University runs some of LA's largest Salsa and Bachata weekly socials, including events at The Continental Club (Mondays), The Bungalow Huntington Beach (Wednesdays), The Victorian Santa Monica (Thursdays), Joliet Restaurant, and Wolfsglen, along with workshops and full festival weekenders such as the Klau y Ros Bachata Weekender (June 2026). Saturdays feature an open practice session for enrolled students, and the community connects through socials, beach bonfires, hikes, and welcome parties for new dancers. The instructor team — including Nicole Gil, Jonathan Tecuadl, William Carpenter, Yahmani Musa, David Noyola, and Jasmine Flores — actively perform and travel internationally, representing LA at festivals like Bachaturo (Poland), Viva La Bachata Europe (Malaga), and Summer Sensual Days (Rovinj). The school maintains a strict zero-tolerance harassment policy and emphasizes inclusion, making it an excellent entry point for absolute beginners as well as serious dancers seeking advanced training.
Founded in 2020 (per the 'Dancer University, LLC, 2020 – 2025' footer), Dancer University grew from a single studio into a two-location school in West Los Angeles serving the Westwood/UCLA and Pico/Mid-City communities. The school has expanded its footprint through international festival appearances (Bachaturo in Poland, Viva La Bachata Europe in Malaga, Summer Sensual Days in Rovinj, Bachata King Festival in Kos) and now hosts multiple weekly socials across LA County.
