DanceSF / SalsaCrazy
About the studio
DanceSF, also known as SalsaCrazy, is San Francisco's longest-running salsa and bachata dance studio, teaching the Bay Area to dance since 1997. The school operates out of Neck of the Woods in the Inner Richmond neighborhood and additionally runs Dance Fridays at a Bayview venue, serving students from across the Bay Area. Classes are organized as 4-week progressive series with weekly drop-ins available, covering beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels in both LA-style and Cuban-style salsa as well as Dominican and sensual bachata. Their flagship weekly social, SalsaCrazy Mondays, opens with a beginner lesson at 7pm, an intermediate lesson at 8pm, and continues with open social dancing until midnight. No partner and no prior experience are required, making the studio explicitly beginner-friendly. The team is led by SalsaCrazy founder Marco Rodriguez and has reportedly taught more than one million students worldwide and sold over 500,000 instructional DVDs. Pricing is straightforward at $20 per drop-in, $60 for a 4-week series, and $100 for a private hour, with payment handled through Eventbrite. The studio rates 4.9 from over 500 Google reviews and serves San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, San Jose, Palo Alto and the wider Bay Area.
Founded in 1997 by Marco Rodriguez under the SalsaCrazy brand, the school grew from a small weekly salsa class in San Francisco into a global dance education business that has reportedly taught over 1,000,000 students, sold more than 500,000 instructional DVDs, and operated 40+ nightclub events. The local studio operation is branded DanceSF and continues to run weekly socials including SalsaCrazy Mondays at Neck of the Woods (the studio's flagship venue since the late 1990s) and Dance Fridays in the Bayview district. As of 2026 the school is celebrating 28+ years of continuous teaching in the Bay Area.
