La Candela
About the studio
La Candela is a Salsa and Cuban dances school in central Berlin, founded in 2018 by veteran teacher Ido Flaishon and based in a dedicated studio near Hauptbahnhof. The school specialises in authentic Salsa Cubana and the wider Cuban repertoire, including Son, Rumba, Timba, Afro-Cuban, Reparto and Cuban body movement. Its flagship Salsa Academy is a structured five-level program (Beginner to Advanced) of over 100 progressive classes taught in closed groups across eight-week blocks. Classes are led by an international team of professionally trained teachers and most run from the La Candela Studio at Am Hamburger Bhf 2, with additional rooms in Prenzlauer Berg and Mitte. Beginners can join a six-class introductory course, and no partner is required thanks to balanced leader/follower groups. The school also hosts a weekly Salsa & Friends practica and meetup for community dancing and feedback, and accepts Urban Sports Club. Memberships start at 64 EUR per month, drop-ins are 18 EUR, and the unlimited Gold membership is 125 EUR per month.
