About the studio
Deka Dance Academy is a Latin dance school in central Bucharest, Romania, located at Strada Baia de Fier 10 near Piata Unirii. Founded by award-winning instructor Dorin Mocanu, the academy specialises in bachata and salsa, the two most popular Latin styles in Romanian dance clubs. Group courses run Monday through Thursday from 19:00 to 21:00, with separate beginner and advanced tracks plus a Monday Bachata Pro Team practice. Classes are taught in Romanian and English by Dorin Mocanu and Claudia Istrate, both internationally experienced performers and competitors. The school emphasises correct technique, fundamentals, and dance vocabulary, welcoming students whether they aim to dance competitively or simply enjoy a hobby. Beyond weekly courses, Deka Dance organises the BtoB Dance Festival, a recurring international bachata-focused festival in Bucharest. Beginners are explicitly welcomed and partners are not required to join classes.
Founded by Dorin Mocanu, who has been studying Latin dances since 2008 and teaching internationally for over a decade. The academy itself markets more than 10 years of teaching experience and has grown into one of Romania's recognised bachata and salsa schools, also producing the BtoB Dance Festival as its flagship event.

Studying Latin dances (salsa, bachata, cha cha, rueda) intensively since 2008. National and international competitor and performer. Internationally recognised bachata and salsa instructor who has taught and performed in Bulgaria, Turkey, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Morocco, Malaysia, Belgium, Abu Dhabi, Hungary and Georgia. Also active as DJ Dorin, producing bachata remixes.
Started dancing at age 3 (ballet at Rapsodia Romana) before discovering Latin dances over 8 years ago. Took 1st place at the 2012 Romanian Latin Dance Cup (National Bachata Championship). Certified dance instructor since 2015 and a regular performer at national and international festivals.
