Salsa Factory
About the studio
Salsa Factory is one of Romania's longest-running and most awarded Latin dance schools, founded in 2008 by Valentin and Simona and based in the Cotroceni district of Bucharest at Panduri 71. The school teaches a broad curriculum that includes Salsa On1 (LA Style), Salsa On2 (New York / Puerto Rican Style), Bachata Sensual, Bachata Moderna, Urban Bachata, Bachata Dominicana, Kizomba, Cha Cha Cha, Pachanga, Afro-Cuban and Cuban Rumba, plus dedicated lady-styling, man-styling, musicality, choreography and improvisation modules. Group classes run Monday to Thursday from 19:00 to 21:00 at three levels (Beginners, Improvers, Intermediate-Advanced) led primarily by Valentin and Veronica, with a weekly social practice every Sunday from 16:00 to 18:00. Pricing is straightforward and locally accessible: a full monthly subscription is 320 RON, a reduced student/pupil membership is 280 RON, drop-ins are 60 RON, and the very first trial class is always free. The team has won multiple Romanian championships and represented the country at the World Latin Dance Cup, ranking 5th in Bachata and 7th in Salsa worldwide in 2010, and they regularly host their own special events such as Intensive Salsa Weekends and the annual Salsa Bootcamp. Salsa Factory positions itself less as a commercial studio and more as a tight-knit dance family, summed up by its motto 'Discover your inner dancer', and is a strong recommendation for any beginner or social dancer in Bucharest.
Salsa Factory was founded in 2008 by Valentin and Simona with the goal of offering an original, content-driven alternative to the existing Romanian dance-school scene. They started with a small group of students, several of whom became long-term Salsa Factory instructors. Within two years the school's competition team became one of the most decorated in Romania, winning multiple national salsa and bachata titles between 2008 and 2013 and qualifying for the World Latin Dance Cup in San Diego (2010) and Las Vegas (2011), where they reached the global top 10 (5th in Bachata, 7th in Salsa in 2010). Simona left Romania in 2011 and Valentin has continued to lead the school since, joined by long-term teaching partners including Laura, Cosmin, Veronica, Borna, Corina, Ada and Adina. The school has built its own teaching syllabus, runs intensive weekend bootcamps and remains, after more than 17 years of operation, one of Bucharest's reference Latin dance schools.
