About the studio
Imperius Dance Academy is a Bucharest-based Latin dance school founded in 2007 by instructor Marian Schianu, located in Sector 5 on Strada Soldat Coman Ion 18 (near Piața 13 Septembrie and Șoseaua Antiaeriana). It is the city's longest-running Latin school built around a single dedicated full-time instructor, teaching Salsa (including Cuban Rueda de Casino), Bachata, Kizomba, Semba, Urban Kiz, Tarraxinha, Cha Cha and Merengue. Classes are organised in a clear modular system from Beginner Basic up to Intermediate Advanced, with new beginner groups starting several times a year, and group sizes capped at 18 students for quality. The studio space features a sprung dance floor, large mirrors, sound insulation, air conditioning and a high-quality sound system. Beyond regular weekly classes, Imperius is known for its strong community life: in-house themed parties (Tiganiada, Halloween, New Year's Eve, Christmas tree), social outings, beach dance camps and bootcamps. New students can try a free taster class or a discounted Start Pass (two lessons), and partners are not required to enrol. The community vibe is the school's main selling point — students repeatedly highlight Marian's patience, structured teaching method and the family-like atmosphere.
Founded in 2007 by Marian Schianu, who began dancing in 1997 and teaching in 2005. Operating continuously for nearly two decades from its current studio in Sector 5, Bucharest. The school has trained thousands of dancers and instructors and has hosted internal events since 2007, with notable annual traditions including Tiganiada (since 2020), Halloween Latin Party (since 2022), New Year's Eve Revelion (since 2021–22) and Beach Dance Escape camps (since 2018). 1 month single 239 RON (≈ 50 RON/class, 8–10 hours/month). 2-month prepay 400 RON (saves 82 RON). 3-month prepay 550 RON (saves 167 RON). Couple discount 450 RON/month, only on monthly plan (no stacking). Membership valid 30 days from first session. Payment by Revolut, Wise, BCR or in studio.
Instructors
Founder and sole full-time instructor of Imperius Dance Academy. Dancer since 1997 and teaching since 2005, with more than 15 years of accredited instructor experience. Has trained thousands of students across Bucharest and other Romanian cities, hosted 60+ bootcamps and 20+ workshops, and appears regularly on Romanian TV (TVR3, FRP) covering Latin dance. His teaching motto is 'If I can, you can.' He is credited with bringing together 31 student couples who later became families.
