Before this was Little Light Venue it was Mama Juanas, the Latin lounge that pulled 200-plus people in the early 2000s, and the room now belongs to sisters Jessica and Nataly Gonzalez. Friday is the salsa night, $20.
The ballroom is 2,500 square feet of open floor with a stage, moody lighting, gold accents and a sound system wired for live music. It holds 140. From the street it gives nothing away: a strip-mall front on Cahuenga Blvd West, a staircase up to the second floor, and no elevator in the building.
Studio City puts you less than five minutes from Universal Studios and Hollywood and across from the Lankershim Blvd exit off the 101. Valet comes with the venue's weekend packages, for weekday rentals there is street parking in the neighborhood and a paid structure nearby, and the Universal City/Studio City Metro station is under half a mile away.
