Every Friday, OYE Latino fills The Albion Rooftop and Club on York Street in South Melbourne. Entry is free, doors open around 6:45 PM, and free Salsa and Bachata classes run as the warm-up before the party. Salsa and Bachata social dancing builds in the main room through the evening, while DJs drive a high-energy mix of Reggaeton, Salsa, Bachata and Latin hits late into the night, with additional social dancing upstairs on the rooftop.
Billed as one of the country's largest Latin parties, OYE Latino draws a big, party-leaning crowd rather than a small studio set, so it sits somewhere between a dedicated dance social and a full Latin club night. The free classes and free entry make it very approachable for beginners and solo dancers who want to learn a few moves and then dance, and the two-level layout means you can choose between the busy main room and the more dance-focused rooftop.
