Salsa Dancing in Oslo: Socials, Venues & Times (2026)

Where to dance salsa in Oslo in 2026: weekly socials at Cafe Sor, Melahuset, Pafuglen and SALT, with days, start times, a free Tuesday and a Sunday social.

By Colin · · Updated · 5 min read

Oslo runs salsa socials on four days of the week: Monday and Tuesday nights in the city centre, a biweekly Friday social in Sagene and a Sunday afternoon session on the waterfront. Tuesday gives you two venues a short walk apart, and one of them, Ready or Not at Cafe Sor, is free entry. The Sunday social at SALT is the odd one out in the best way: it runs from 1 to 4 PM in daylight, not at night.

This is a compact scene, so this is a compact guide. Every event below comes from our Oslo salsa listings with the days, start times and venues we track. One pattern to set your expectations: most Oslo socials end early. Three of the four weeknight events are done by 11:30 PM.

Cafe Sor: Free Salsa Tuesdays on Torggata

Cafe Sor is a cafe and bar at Torggata 11 in central Oslo, and its weekly Tuesday night, Ready or Not Latin, is billed as one of the city's best salsa events. The evening opens with a lesson and social around 8 PM and runs to 11:30 PM. The music is mostly salsa, backed up by bachata, merengue and a little reggaeton.

Entry is free and the night is open to everyone over 20, experienced dancers and newcomers alike. If you only have one night in Oslo, this is the obvious pick: central address, no cover and a lesson built in for anyone still finding their basic step.

Påfuglen: Cuban Salsa Steps From Oslo S

The same Tuesday offers a second, very different room. Påfuglen at Skippergata 20, about 200 metres from Oslo S, hosts Cuban Salsa Tuesday from 9:15 to 11:15 PM in a small renovated basement. Capacity is 80 with seating for 45, so expect dozens of dancers rather than hundreds.

Nights here are promoter-run, so the cover and the exact music mix change with the organiser. The later start also makes a Tuesday double possible: begin with the free lesson and social at Cafe Sor, then walk over for Cuban salsa. Both venues appear on our Tuesday salsa in Oslo page.

Melahuset: Monday Latin Night

Monday belongs to Salsakompaniet's Latin Night at Melahuset, Mariboes gate 8 in central Oslo. The weekly social runs from 9 to 11 PM with salsa and bachata sharing the floor.

Two hours is short, but as a start to the dance week it does the job, and the central location makes it an easy add after work. Pair it with Tuesday's two socials and you have three socials across two nights before Wednesday.

SALT: Sunday Bryggedans on the Waterfront

The most distinctive event in Oslo's week is Bryggedans, the Sunday social that Dancecity runs at SALT Art & Music, the art, music and sauna venue at Langkaia 1 on the waterfront. Open social dancing runs from 1 to 4 PM, with salsa and bachata in the mix. The organizer confirmed the schedule to us in July 2026, so this one carries an extra layer of verification.

Bryggedans is the only daytime social in our Oslo listings, and it suits visitors well: you can dance a full session and still make an evening flight or dinner.

Sagene Samfunnshus: The Biweekly Friday Social

For a proper late night, head to residential Sagene. The bachata and salsa social at Kaysalen, the main hall of Sagene Samfunnshus at Kristiansands gate 2, runs every other Friday: classes from 7 to 9 PM, then a social from 9 PM to 12:30 AM with salsa, bachata and kizomba on the playlist. The organiser lists the alternate weekends on Saturdays, so check the current date before you go.

The setting is a cleared multi-use hall with seating around the edges, and the Nazar cafe-bar on site covers food and drink. It is the longest night in our Oslo listings and the only one that regularly runs past midnight.
