Kizomba, Bachata & Salsa at Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich

From roughly May through September or October, the south side of the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich's Maxvorstadt turns into a free outdoor dance floor run by the local open-air community. Volunteers bring JBL speakers and the music carries across the plaza. Kizomba socials gather on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from about 8:00 PM until it gets dark or cold, a Bachata Wednesday by Bubu and Moonvibes runs 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and on Sundays there is a mixed Bachata, Kizomba and Salsa social from around 7:30 PM. Everything is free and open to anyone who shows up.

This is street-style social dancing at its most relaxed: no door, no dress code, just dancers meeting on the meadows of the Kunstareal cultural quarter beside the museum. It is wonderfully beginner and solo friendly, since people come alone and rotate partners, but it lives entirely on the weather and the volunteers, so check the organisers' Instagram before you travel. The surface is the museum's paved plaza, so bring shoes you do not mind dancing outdoors in.
